Sprucing Up Your Kitchen Cabinets

While the big renovation projects at home tend to take up most of our time and attention, there’s a lot to be said for those little jobs that don’t take much time or effort but provide plenty of satisfaction. We all have a handful of small jobs around the home that we’ve been putting off for one reason or another, but finally taking the time to get them done is incredibly rewarding!

One of the areas in most homes that gets ignored more than it should is the area under the sink. Usually used as a dumping ground for kitchen supplies and cleaning products, there’s not much to get excited about in this area. Despite being a little dreary and boring, it’s actually an area of the home that’s under a little strain. With water from leaky pipes and various spills from the cleaning supplies we usually store there, it can get a little damp and unpleasant.

Damp and rot can cause all sorts of issues in the home, and the kitchen is more vulnerable than most places. As with all things of this nature, a little prevention goes a long way when it comes to saving you time and money. We’ve found a quick fix which will help protect your under-sink cupboard from the dampness which is all too common in homes across the country.

The solution? Those cheap yet effective stick-on tiles you’ll find at most hardware stores are the perfect way to help protect the bottom of your cupboard from the various drips and spills which threaten the integrity of your kitchen cupboards. They’re really easy to keep clean too, so on those occasions you need to head under the sink to fix something you don’t need to worry about putting your hand in something sticky or smelly!

Covering the bottom of the cupboard can be done fairly quickly and there’s very little mess or clean up involved. Just press on the tiles once you’ve wiped down the bottom of the cupboard for an easy to clean, water resistant surface which helps protect your kitchen against rot and dampness.
